The Arm of the Lord

The Arm of the Lord

According to Exodus 6:6, Deuteronomy 4:34 and Psalm 98:1–3, the arm of the Lord is clearly a reference to His acts of power, His might, His ability to save, and His strength.

Psalm 98 speaks specifically of His right hand and His holy arm, saying that “His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him.” So this arm is mighty. It is powerful. It demonstrates His strength to the nations and to His people, but it is also a holy arm — an arm that works His righteousness and brings about His salvation.

The right arm of the Lord refers to His power, His strength, His righteousness, and His ability to save. As I mentioned in the previous discussion, it is also significant that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God (Mrk. 16:19, Luk. 22:69, Acts 7:55-56). In this sense, we see a clear connection to Jesus as the power of God. Christ is the wisdom of God and the power of God (1 Cor. 1:24); in Him, we see the saving power and ability of God revealed. He is the mighty right hand of God.
